Update: On Monday night, Harry Reid's attempt to muzzle pro-gun free speech with a new Constitutional amendment passed its first Senate vote with enough Republican support to secure the 2/3 needed for final passage.

Fortunately, we've still got time to convince swing Senate Democrats and weak-kneed Republicans to change their minds before the final Senate vote happens in the next few days.

Dear NAGR Supporter,

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said he'd re-visit gun control, but I didn't expect that he'd use the nuclear option.

Gun-grabber Harry Reid is trying to change the rules of the gun control debate, and he's willing to gut the entire Constitution to do it!

Reid has scheduled a vote on "Senate Joint Resolution 19" for Monday, September 8th, at 6:00 PM.

SJR-19 is an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would allow both federal and state governments to censor and regulate American's free speech when election time comes around.

The goal of Reid's Constitutional amendment's is crystal clear:

Block pro-gun groups like the National Association for Gun Rights, from exposing anti-gun lawmakers' records.

That's because this amendment would devastate Americans' ability to band together to oppose gun control and expose anti-gun politicians for their voting records.

Under the Amendment:

*** Federal and State governments can decide who is allowed to participate in elections, and who can't.

*** A state government could pass a law prohibiting you from sending a letter telling your friends about your favorite candidate.

*** NAGR, churches, and even political parties could be prohibited from informing you about a politician's voting record if it might "influence" an election.

But, favored groups like labor unions would certainly be exempted, and Billionaire anti-gun activists like Michael Bloomberg won't have any trouble "working" the new system.

Make no mistake, this isn't campaign finance reform, it's a scam to protect gun-grabbers who vote against your rights and then lie about it come November.

If this amendment passes, your pro-gun voice, and those of millions like you, could be silenced.

Remember that once legislation passes, it almost never goes away.

That's because once it passes Congress, it's only a matter of time before enough anti-gun state legislatures decide to ratify it in order to stop pro-gun activists like you.

SJR-19 will be a threat to our free speech.

So far, the only thing stopping Reid from ignoring NAGR and the millions of pro-gun activists nationwide is that pesky First Amendment.

Not to mention that it would leave all of your other cherished freedoms on the lawmakers' chopping block.

Do NOT Change the Constitution to ban pro-gun free speech.
Whereas: The First Amendment to the Constitution guarantees our right to free speech -- especially political speech -- as well as the right to assemble and petition our government; and
Whereas: The Second Amendment clearly states "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."; and
Whereas: The First and Second Amendments have protected our natural and God-given rights for 222 years and should NEVER be weakened, repealed, or replaced; and
Whereas: Second Amendment supporters like myself strongly oppose -- and will be paying close attention to any Senator and Congressman who votes for -- any attempt to silence our political views;
