National Association for Gun Rights - Vermont Petition

Dear Fellow Patriot,

Will 2014 be the year that the gun-grabbers topple Vermont's pro-gun laws?

I hope not.

But the latest scheme coming out of Burlington should have every gun owner in the Green Mountain state very concerned.

It starts with billionaire-playboy ex-New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his all out crusade for new state-level gun control.

His group Mayors Against Guns is setting up shop in state capitols all across the country, and recently revealed they're prepared to spend $25 million on state gun control efforts.

In Burlington, Bloomberg's coalition partner Mayor Miro Weinberger was one of the state's loudest voices for a so-called "assault weapons ban" early on.

Fortunately, in 2013, gun owners and patriots like you helped keep Weinberger's efforts from flowing down I-89 into Montpelier.

But now, City Councilman Norm Blais, a lawyer by trade, thinks he has found a legal "loophole" that could pose an even greater threat to gun rights in Vermont.

It's a scheme to collapse the firearm preemption law.

Firearm preemption is a vital state law that protects gun owners from being subjected to a checkerboard of local anti-gun laws when traveling throughout the state.

If Blais is successful, any city or local government would be allowed to enact any obscure gun law in effort to play "gotcha" with your gun rights!

It would turn Vermont's nation-leading gun laws upside-down and make the entire state a checkerboard of new anti-gun laws.

In order to pull it off, the Burlington city council adopted three anti-gun ordinances that will go before voters in March.

If passed by voters, it would then go to the State Legislature in Montpelier for approval.

And if lawmakers give their approval, it would set this very dangerous precedent in motion.

Specifically, the Burlington City Council is trying to:

*** CONFISCATE firearms and ammunition without due process if you are "suspected" of domestic violence or are even involved in a domestic dispute;

*** Require that residents lock-up all firearms and store them away from ammunition; and,

*** Ban firearms from ANY establishment serving alcohol.

If Bloomberg, and Blais are successful in Burlington, a path will be cleared for similar anti-gun ordinances across the state.

Worse, it would be virtually impossible for law-abiding gun owners like you to know what is legal where.

If you live anywhere in Vermont, I hope you'll take a moment to sign this petition to your state lawmakers and Governor Peter Shumlin right away.

For Freedom,

Dudley Brown, Executive Director, National Association for Gun Rights

No More Gun Control Petition
To members of the Vermont General Assembly and Governor Peter Shumlin:
Whereas: President Obama, ex-New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and their gun control allies are trying to impose their radical anti-gun agenda on residents of Vermont; and,
Whereas: By definition, criminals don't obey laws and new gun control laws make it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their families; and,
Whereas: The right to keep-and-bear arms is protected by the Constitution of the State of Vermont and the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which clearly states "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."; and,
Whereas: Gun rights supporters, like myself, strongly oppose gun control and will be paying close attention to all gubernatorial actions on new anti-gun schemes as well as any State Legislator who votes for them.
Therefore: Therefore, as a citizen of Vermont, I URGE you to oppose, vote against, or veto all anti-gun legislation, including any bill that weakens state preemption, or allows any local government to enact special anti-gun ordinances.
