National Association for Gun Rights - Legislative Update Banner
UPDATE: February 13, 2014

I've got some good news from Salem!

Your pressure is working. The anti-gun bill I've been warning you about hit a snag today.

Thanks to your activism SB-1551 -- the expanded background check and gun registration scheme -- did not receive enough support to pass the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Unfortunately, this Bloomberg-backed bill has not been defeated yet.

Instead they sent it to a different committee where they’ll try again.

This time, it's in the Senate Rules Committee.

One of the members of that committee, Republican Bruce Starr, showed signs at a town hall meeting last month that he might be open to the bill.

I hope he’s changed his mind, but he is a politician, so there’s only one way to be sure.

Please contact Senator Bruce Star and all of the members of the Senate Rules Committee.

Urge them to OPPOSE SB-1551, and any other anti-gun schemes.

*** Sen. Diane Rosenbaum (D-21) at (503) 986-1700

*** Sen. Ted Ferrioli (R-30) at (503) 986-1950

*** Sen. Lee Beyer (D-6) at (503) 986-1706

*** Sen. Ginny Burdick (D-18) at (503) 986-1718

*** Sen. Senator Bruce Starr (R-15) at (503) 986-1715

Thank you for taking immediate action

February 11, 2014

Following last week's testimony on SB-1551 -- the anti-gun bill I've been warning you about -- lawmakers in Salem could take a key committee vote as early as tomorrow morning.

SB-1551 is an expanded background check bill and gun registration scheme.

And it's on the Oregon Senate Judiciary Committee agenda again, tomorrow at 8 AM.

This bill would make billionaire-playboy Michael Bloomberg grin.

Specifically, SB-1551 would:

*** Require you to report sensitive personal information, along with information identifying the firearm you intend to sell, to the state police;

*** Make it illegal for you to sell your gun without the government's permission; and,

*** Give the government a back-door list of every gun owned in Oregon.

You and I both know that expanded or so-called "universal" background checks are nothing but a gun registration scheme designed as a prelude to gun confiscation.

After all, that's exactly what's happening now just to the south in neighboring California.

State officials there are actually sending state troopers door to door to take citizens' guns.

Elsewhere in places like New York, gun owners are coming home to letters from the Government telling them to either get rid of their guns, or face arrest.

Senate Bill 1551 puts Oregon on the same path, and threatens every law abiding citizen who seeks to purchase or sell a firearm in Oregon.

That's why I'm going above and beyond to rally liberty loving patriots like you to put pressure on your elected officials.

Now is your chance to send a message to Bloomberg, and his minions in Salem.

But with the hearing happening Wednesday morning, there's no time to waste.

Here's what you can do to help:

*** Call the members of the committee and urge them to vote against SB-1551.

Sen. Floyd Prozanski (D-4) at (503) 986-1704
Sen. Betsy Close (R-8) at (503) 986-1708
Sen. Michael Dembrow (D-23) at (503) 986-1723
Sen. Jeff Kruse (R-1) at (503) 986-1701
Sen. Arnie Roblan (D-5) at (503) 986-1705

Or Click here to send them all an email.

*** Then, call 1-800-332-2313 and ask to speak to your State Senator.

Insist they publicly promise to vote against SB-1551 or any other anti-gun scheme.

Thank you for taking action immediately.
