Bill: S. 736 — Semi-Automatic Gun Ban.
NAGR's Position: Opposed.
Sponsor(s): Dianne Feinstein [D-CA]
Status: Introduced 3/11/2021
Senator Dianne Feinstein is pulling out all the stops in her latest attempt at a so-called “assault weapons ban.”
The Senator's finger prints are on some of the most heinous gun control bills of the last 29 years she has been in the U.S. Senate, including the original 1994 ban that lasted 10 years.
Here are just some of the provisions in Sen. Feinstein's current “assault weapon” bill, S.736:
PROHIBITING the purchase of semi-automatic rifles, handguns, shotguns, and numerous modern sporting rifles used for self-defense and hunting.
BANNING standard capacity magazines capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
OUTLAWING folding, telescoping, or other adjustable stocks, along with pistols that weigh over 50 ounces when unloaded. And countless other features that merely “look scary.”
ENFORCING a so-called safe storage provision that would actually punish the victims of crimes if crooks get ahold of their guns.
Such a ban would make nearly every magazine-fed rifle or pistol obsolete and lump practically every modern firearm under the umbrella of her ban. Which is why we must stop it.

Whereas: The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution clearly states “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed;” and
Whereas: S.736 bans the sale, manufacture, and transfer of hundreds of different semi-auto firearms, which number in at least the tens of millions; and
Whereas: This bill bans magazines that hold over 10 rounds, rifles with detachable magazines, and firearms with more than one cosmetic feature such as a pistol grip, a forward grip, a barrel shroud, a telescoping stock, etc.;
Therefore: S.736 clearly infringes on the right to keep and bear arms, and as your constituent, I urge you to oppose this dangerous bill immediately.
